my gallery so much she wants exactly the same..

So here it is again....
Three simple tiers with three beautiful roses.

The flavors were fun to create though.
Bottom - Lemon poppy seed pound cake filled with lemon curd and lemon flavored buttercream.
Middle - Carrot and walnut cake with Cream cheese frosting and Vanilla Buttercream
Top - Double Chocolate Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Ganache.
and of course all three tiers decorated with Homemade sugar paste / fondant.

Basic Vannilla Pastry Cream or Vanilla Egg Custard

I thought I had already posted this recipe with you a long time ago, until recently I realized  that the only recipe of Vanilla custard I posted was the egg-less version along with my Strawberry mousse.

I had taken pictures but not made the post until some one requested the recipe and I just couldn't find it.

Ah well, with so many recipe I have on two blogs it's getting harder to keep track and organize.

Those of us that can eat eggs would obviously prefer this version and rightfully so. It is delicious on it's own not just in cakes.

My kids love Vanilla Custard just for desserts, I use them as my base for my mousse and ice creams.A swirl of Vanilla cream on your favorite chocolate cake... It's heavenly.

The procedure to make this can intimidate some people
because if you are not careful with the cooking you can have sweet
scrambled eggs. So follow my directions and tips carefully and you will
see making Vanilla Custard is indeed a piece of cake.

A Teddy Bear First Birthday cake

Today I want to share with you this cute teddy Bear birthday cake I made for a first birthday.

A very simple cake I admit but still so cute don't you think?

It's a Rich moist coconut cake, filled and decorated with coconut flavored Buttercream and homemade sugar paste..

Well, it's a really simple cake as you can see.  So, I did not think of making a tutorial, but for those who need to know..

  • It's a 9" square cake which I place on a fondant covered board.

  • As usual I leveled, coated with buttercream and then covered it with white fondant on all sides.

  • Next I cut out strips of blue and covered all four corners then across to form a block pattern as best I could.

  • Next I use a medium teddy cutter to cut out the Ivory teddies.

  • I used the smallest to cut out the teddies on the board and replaced them with the red teddies.

  • Made a large teddy out of fondant (mixed with tylos) for the topper. If you do not want to make a topper you could also use a larger teddy cutter and make a large cut out. The set I bought was with three size cutters.

  • Use edible red and black pens to draw bows and dots on the medium and small teddy.

And that's all there was to this cake.. I hope you like it..

How to make a Princess Cake 2 with Sugar Veil

Well, it was a long time back when I made this cake for my daughter, remember?
I did take progress pictures with the intention of making a video for you tube.

I was so busy at the time I could not do it and then completely forgot about it...

Lately I have been feeling very guilty that I spend so much time and attention on my blog and tutorials that I do not make videos. The truth is that I have more subscribers on you tube than I have on my blog.

I didn't really make any resolutions for this year but I decided that It was time to do justice to my you tube fans as well.

So here's a video on how I made the Princess Cake with Sugar Veil.

Most of the comments from my previous video were with regards to the cake pans. So this video will also shows you how you can carve two six inch cakes to make a skirt shape if you don't have a glass bowl or a doll pan.

And here is a second video showcasing all the Castle and Princess Cakes made so far.. which you can use for design inspiration.

I hope you find these useful.

Thanks for stopping by.
