You could make these with Gum paste, Fondant or Marzipan.

Flourless Chocolate Cake/ Passover Chocolate Cake

One of the few things that you don't eat during Passover is flour. But that does not mean you can't eat a cake? Does it?

The first year I came to Israel, I made this flour-less cake for passover and everybody enjoyed it so much that now every year It's become a family favorite.

The recipe is adapted from one of my favorite cookbooks 'Best ever Bakng' by Carole Clements. I made changes to the original recipes. But, I absolutely adore this book. I've had this book with me forever and It never fails me.

My son calls it the upside down cake. The first time I did it he looked so worried that my cake was upside down but was equally fascinated to see the string - "mama look how their standing up... kept telling everybody mama's making a fun cake"

Well, as promised here I share with you the pictures of my Extension work.

Oriental String Work Tutorial

Hope you guys had a good weekend.  As promised, here are the progress pictures of my Oriental String work cake.

Royal Icing string work is a very beautiful technique.

The key to a good string is the consistency of your icing. Once you have a good consistency, working with Royal Icing can be a dream but until then it can also turn out to be your worst nightmare. (ask me how I know?)

If your a beginner its best to try Basic String Work first, then move on to more demanding designs.

Yellow Cake Recipe

While a White cake got a front seat at weddings and came to be known as white wedding cake, the yellow cake is mostly popular for other special occasions such as Anniversaries.

Just as a white cake is made with more egg whites; the yellow cake is made with more egg yolks. The yellow color in the yolks gives the cake its name yellow cake.

Years ago when I use to help my godmother make this cake, I clearly remember she use to use all egg yolks and buy the eggs for a special source that had home grown chickens resulting in beautiful dark yellow yolks.

You also gets some butters that have a nice bright yellow color that can be used.

I personally like to use a good combination of whole eggs in my cakes. Therefore, I prefer to use some egg white as well with the eggs yolks here.. I  think it adds lightness to the cake. You may choose to use all yolks if you please.
